Eficácia da Terapia Fotodinâmica como Adjuvante ao Tratamento Endodôntico

Introdução: Cáries e lesões levam a danos pulpares e necessidade endodôntica. Limitações na eliminação bacteriana motivam terapias adjuvantes. A terapia fotodinâmica mostra potencial antimicrobiano eficaz no aumento do sucesso endodôntico. Objetivo: Investigar a eficácia da terapia fotodinâmica como adjuvante ao tratamento endodôntico convencional. Material e Método: A presente revisão foi fundamentada na estratégia PICO e desenvolveu-se através de pesquisas nas bases de dados do PubMed, SciELO e BVS, seguindo rigorosos critérios de inclusão e exclusão, com o intuito de responder à pergunta norteadora estabelecida inicialmente. Foram incluídos ensaios clínicos randomizados que abordassem o tema escolhido, publicados nos últimos 10 anos, em português, inglês e espanhol, com resumos e textos completos disponíveis. Livros, teses, monografias, dissertações, carta ao leitor e revisões de literatura, integrativas ou sistemáticas, assim como textos que não abordassem o tema objeto desta revisão e artigos em duplicidade, foram excluídos. Resultados: Para a execução da presente revisão integrativa, foram identificados 1.686 artigos: 399 no Pubmed, 1.267 na BVS e 20 na SciELO, dos quais, 1.675 foram eliminados após a aplicação dos critérios de elegibilidade acima elencados, restando apenas 11 artigos, que passaram por uma minuciosa extração de dados para compor o repertório bibliográfico deste trabalho. Conclusão: Terapia Fotodinâmica surge como uma técnica adjuvante promissora no preparo biomecânico de canais radiculares, atuando na redução quantitativa da população de microrganismos que habitam o seu interior, contribuindo para o sucesso do tratamento endodôntico em dentes permanentes e decíduos.
