Aplicação clínica da terapia laser na Endodontia

Resumo

Introdução: O uso da luz com finalidades terapêuticas tem possibilitado à Odontologia inúmeras aplicações clínicas. Com o desenvolvimento e o constante aperfeiçoamento da terapia com uso do laser, observou-se que esta poderia ser aplicada também à Endodontia, durante e após a realização do tratamento endodôntico convencional, bem como nas cirurgias periapicais. Objetivo: Avaliar, através de uma revisão de literatura, as aplicações clínicas da terapia laser na Endodontia. Material e método: O levantamento literário para esta pesquisa foi realizado entre os meses de outubro e novembro de 2019, através de buscas em publicações científicas indexadas nas bases de dados Scielo e Medline/PubMed. Os estudos foram selecionados a partir de critérios de inclusão preestabelecidos, sendo excluídos os temas divergentes ao objetivo deste estudo, artigos de revisão de literatura, estudos in vitro e ex vivo, estudos utilizando animais e artigos anteriores a 2009. Resultados: Um total de 214 artigos foram encontrados nas bases de dados selecionadas, sendo 19 artigos pré-selecionados e 17 incluídos na presente revisão. Conclusão: A utilização clínica do laser como adjuvante ao tratamento endodôntico convencional, mostrou resultados satisfatórios no que diz respeito ao controle da dor pós-operatória, desinfecção do sistema de canais radiculares, na cirurgia periapical, no reparo tecidual pós-operatório e de tecidos lesados pela extrusão de NaClO. No entanto, a terapia laser deve ser bem indicada e realizada com base em protocolos previamente estabelecidos, para que o cirurgião-dentista possa utilizá-la de forma segura e eficaz.
