PDRN and its Applications in Facial Aesthetic Procedures: a Literature Review

Introduction: Polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) boasts 95% purity, ensuring greater safety in its use; derived from salmon or chum salmon sperm, this unique origin has made the substance a focus of research and development across various health sectors. In aesthetics, PDRN has demonstrated significant efficacy in tissue repair, collagen synthesis, and skin revitalization, acting as a natural-looking filler for areas affected by aging, while also proving to be a promising agent for wound healing and angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation). Objective: To present the application of PDRN in facial aesthetic procedures. Material and Methods: A literature review was conducted by searching the PubMed and Google Scholar databases; 13 articles were selected for this study. Results: An increase in research regarding the substance was observed, highlighting a pharmacological profile characterized by a wide range of regenerative and anti-inflammatory effects, a lack of toxicity, and considerable clinical viability—making it a strong candidate for regenerative medicine and inflammation management. Conclusion: The results validate PDRN as a promising candidate for regenerative medicine and inflammation management and indicate that future research should comparatively evaluate its efficacy against established therapies, as well as define optimal administration protocols to maximize its effects.
